WELCOME TO LONDON

Welcome to London, the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. London has something to offer everybody, from a brilliant range of museums and historical buildings to world class shopping facilities and one of the world's largest financial cities. London is a fantastically diverse city, with a massive variety of cultures and people - over 300 languages are spoken within it. London Heathrow Airport is the world's busiest international airport with people always coming and going, and the public transport links are brilliant - the Underground makes it easy to get from one side of the city to the other in almost no time at all.

WELCOME TO [info]londoncity
We are a fun, friendly and interactive community who are always happy to welcome new members. There are two mods here, in two different timezones. One of our mods is a Londoner and so is always happy to answer your questions and keep you up to date with what's going on in London, and the other is an American, and so between us there is almost always someone around to answer your issues as quickly as possible. We pride ourselves on being such an interactive community and are always holding events and group threads, based both on real events that are currently taking part in London and fictional.

The game is based around an apartment complex in Kensington. If you'd like the option to have your character live in the apartment, you are more than welcome to, and you can read about it here.

The idea behind the journalling system is that the owner of Freedom Place apartments decided to create it in order to try and bring London closer. There will therefore be fictional events held at Freedom Place once a month still, as well as some real life London events - usually at least once a week.

We really do believe we have something to offer everybody, and would love to have you join us.

Rules // Information [Aug. 17th, 2009|01:26 pm]

1. We welcome all of your PBs. London is a very diverse place and so we have no plans to restrict your PB choices - originals are fine by us!

2. Your character does not necessarily have to be British. It is fairly easy for people from all over Europe to move to England. Therefore we are going to be allowing all characters from any part of Europe. For characters from outside of Europe, ie America, it is not always so easy - you would need to either be rich, married to a Brit, or have family links in Britain.

3. Our update limit is once every two weeks. Removals are every Wednesday and Sunday - you can check to see if you're up for removal here.

4. If your character is at school or university, we would like you to use real life places with real life courses. In the case of work, we allow you more creativity, and it's up to you whether you put them in a business that really exists or just make up your own.

5. AIM is optional here. Of course we would recommend it, but we don't mind if you don't have it. If you are using it, we would rather you make one just for your character - but if you'd rather use a personal one then that's okay too.

6. Your journal username should be based around the name of your character.

7. Please use correct spelling and grammar. We're not expecting you to write us PhD class essays, but we would like to see at least some effort put into it.

    Application [Aug. 10th, 2009|02:34 pm]
    Character Name: Self explanatory.
Played By: Were they held for you?
Journal Name: Unlinked. The journal should have something to do with your character's name.
AIM Name: This is recommended, but optional. If you do use AIM, please make sure the SN has something to do with the characters name.
Apartment: Please tell us what size room you want, and if you'd mind having flatmates.
School/Work: Where does your character go to school or work? Please include the borough. If they are in school please include their subjects, if they are in work please say what exactly it is they do/work at. If you're having a hard time thinking of something take a look at the DIRECTORY and contact the various owners/workers to see if they wouldn't mind you working with their character!
Directory: Link us to your characters directory post. Please make sure your directory entry is PUBLIC. This can either be a standard biography or detailled bullet points.
Link to Examples: You must supply us with at least two scening examples - they can be from the same scene, if you want. Please either post this in your journal and then link us to it, or just link us to your example journal. This is now required, so if you haven't saved any examples or haven't scened before, just make them up so we can still get a feel.
Link to 100x100 Image: This is going to be used to link to your directory page on the general apartment information page. It's fine if the image is the same as your icon, but please be sure to upload it to tinypic or a similar site so that it doesn't get removed whenever you eventually delete the icon.

Please request membership HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

We also have an optional storyline community, [info]londonzoo, which you can post in before or after applying if you wish!

All comments are screened - Adds are every Sunday and Wednesday.

    Directory [Aug. 10th, 2009|09:36 am]
    Borough Directory

Welcome to Freedom Place, London's new apartment complex in the heart of Kensington. Freedom Place is a beautiful new and modern development, bringing you all you need for a wonderful life in the city. All of the apartments come fully furnished, including a sleek and contemporary kitchen and dining room combination complete with a fridge/freezer unit, oven, washing machine, gas hob and chimney extractor, and a natural toned Italian inspired bathroom complete with both bath and shower. Freedom Place is spread out over five floors and contains thirty one bedroom apartments, fifteen two bedroom apartments, and five three bedroom apartments.

The apartment is set in Kensington, London. Kensington is a district of West London, within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It is bordered by Notting Hill, Brompton, Knighstbridge, Earl's Course, Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush. Its high street includes what has been described as London's second best shopping street and is known for being an extremely affluent area - though it should be noted, the apartment that this community is based around is aimed at more mid-range characters than the ridiculously wealthy.

If you would like to find out more about Kensington, I would suggest their official government webpage or wikipedia. More links and information will be added to this page later on.

Dear Mods [Aug. 9th, 2009|02:35 pm]
Have a question for one of the mods?

Need to know something about the community?

Want suggestions of where your character is going to work, go to university, live?

Want to know something about England/London?

    Need something changed?

    All that goes here!

Comments are screened! Before asking please read the quick guide I wrote up here in case it answers your questions!

Where possible please mark the subject along the lines of what your request is (ie. "Question about London" or "Help choosing borough") as that way the appropriate mod can find your post quickly when flicking through the emails!
